Deadline: 29-Jul-2025
The Asda Foundation is now accepting applications for its Foodbank Fundamentals Fund, aimed at supporting food distributors with essential supplies and equipment to serve disadvantaged people in local communities. This funding initiative responds to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and rising demand for food support services.
A total of £400,000 is available through this grant, with each group eligible for a grant of £750. The funding can cover essential food (including baby food/formula), hygiene items (like toiletries and nappies), white goods (such as fridges and freezers), storage needs (e.g. containers and shelving), and fuel costs for food deliveries to isolated individuals.
Groups that do not provide food support as a core service, or those applying for social event refreshments, promotional materials, or individual benefits, are not eligible. Also excluded are fundraising costs, membership fees, and general operating expenses.
Eligible applicants must be grassroots groups focused on food aid—such as foodbanks, community pantries, soup kitchens, or breakfast clubs. Organisations must have an annual income of £250,000 or less. If the group is part of a larger organisation exceeding this limit, they must show a separate bank account, governance, and financial documents specific to their branch.
Applicants must provide key documents, including a governing document (like a constitution or articles of association), a safeguarding policy, and proof of a bank account in the group’s name that can accept cheques, as all payments will be made via cheque.
Groups that have already received Asda Foundation funding in 2025, operate outside the UK, or are political, animal-focused, or third-party grantmakers are not eligible. Public sector bodies like schools are also excluded unless a PTA is directly providing essential food services.
