Deadline: 28-Sep-2025
The National Heritage Board’s Heritage Activation Nodes (HAN) initiative invites the community to participate in and co-develop projects that celebrate neighbourhood heritage. It aims to make heritage a more integral part of everyday life through local involvement.
The Heritage Activation Node at Punggol is a joint effort between NHB and arts organisation OH! Open House (OH!). The initiative encourages residents to take ownership of their neighbourhood’s heritage by working with artists and community groups. Through this collaboration, residents will uncover hidden stories, shape narratives tied to new homeowners, and lead meaningful arts and heritage projects.
The overall theme for this HAN initiative is Histories in Transition. Proposed projects should highlight Punggol’s evolving landscape and its lesser-known history. Formats may include exhibitions, guided tours, talks, lectures, workshops, film screenings, murals, community games, competitions, or temporary outdoor installations.
Projects should meet one or more of the following programming goals: celebrate Punggol’s history and notable communities, reveal new or overlooked aspects of its heritage, engage young families in cultural appreciation, or present heritage through creative and innovative formats like art.
Applicants are also encouraged to explore themes such as agricultural, natural, recreational, and marine heritage, or focus on communities like Kampung Wak Sumang, farmers, plantation workers, and the Teochew-Catholic community.
Funding support varies by project type and scale, with a maximum of SGD $2,500 available per project. Funding is disbursed on a reimbursement basis after the project is completed.
This call is open to individuals who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents living locally, as well as organisations registered with ACRA or the Registry of Societies. Informal collectives are also eligible if at least half the team are Citizens or PRs.
Projects that involve foreign collaborators may also apply, provided the lead applicant is a Singapore Citizen or PR residing in Singapore and the majority of the team are Citizens or PRs.
