Deadline: 15-Jul-2025
The Yashwantrao Chavan Center has announced its Dhon. Mahanor Literature, Agriculture and Water Awards. Each year, four of the six awards focus on literature, while two are dedicated to agriculture and water. For the year 2025, recommendations are invited from all state departments for the Kavivarya Na. Dhon. Mahanor Literature, Agriculture, and Water Awards.
The awards cover agriculture and water management, with two awards for farmers, and four awards in Marathi literature, including three for poets and one for novelists. Farmers who work innovatively by combining traditional and modern methods in agriculture and water management, while being environmentally conscious, should be recommended. The awards also aim to recognize new generation farmers, writers, and poets under the age of 45 as of September 1, 2025.
The literary award is not given for a specific book but rather for the overall quality of a writer or poet’s work. The quality is judged based on literary merit, and only those whose writings uphold humanistic values without promoting inequality based on religion, caste, region, gender, or any other principle will be considered. Recommendations for farmers should include descriptions of the nature and characteristics of their work. Similarly, recommendations for writers and poets should describe the content and qualities of their books or poems.
All recommendations should be sent to the Yashwantrao Chavan Center. Eligible applicants must be Indian citizens. The event organizers will obtain police permissions and be responsible for law and order, including traffic control. They must also designate a representative to coordinate security arrangements with the Colaba Police Station.
Applicants are responsible for all legal obligations, including paying all taxes such as Municipal Theater tax or other state and central government levies related to performances. According to the Bombay Municipal Corporation, taxes must be paid in advance before admission to entertainment events. It is also mandatory to submit a Censor Certificate from the Stage Performance Scrutiny Board of the Government of Maharashtra.
If prerecorded music is used, a copy of the PPL license (Phonographic Performance Ltd) must be submitted. For any generator use, a license copy from the PWD (Office of the Electrical Inspector, IE & L Department) is required. The Yashwantrao Chavan Center cafeteria is operated by a catering contractor, and no outside food or drinks are allowed in the hall. Parties seeking catering must coordinate with the contractor to finalize menus, rates, and services.
