The UN Women is inviting proposals from eligible organizations to support gender-responsive agricultural innovation and promote the initial adoption of climate-smart practices among women smallholder farmers in Madhya Pradesh. This initiative is part of the Women Empowered for Climate resilience through Agricultural innovation (WE-CAN) project.
The funding available for this opportunity ranges from INR 31,00,000 to 37,00,000. Selected organizations will be expected to work closely with 15 women farmers as lead farmers and engage their households over two agricultural seasons. Additionally, they will collaborate with 50 women smallholder farmers to pilot and test the use of an on-farm biosensor for the effective application of biofertilizers.
Eligible organizations must have a minimum of three years of experience in program design and implementation, particularly within the agricultural development sector working with smallholder farmers. They should also demonstrate expertise in engaging women farmers through gender-sensitive practices, especially in training and capacity building, and show prior success in helping scale agricultural technologies.
The team leader should possess at least four years of experience in gender-sensitive agricultural development programs and five years in action research and project monitoring or evaluation. A master’s or higher degree in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development is essential, along with strong English communication skills.
Team members must have a minimum of two years’ experience coordinating agricultural development projects and working directly with women farmers. They should also have a master’s degree in a relevant field, good English proficiency, and must be fluent in Hindi and other local languages spoken in Madhya Pradesh.
