The Food System program aims to unleash the potential of social entrepreneurs to develop and sustain innovative solutions addressing food inequity, insecurity, and unemployment in South Africa.

Phases
The program is run in three phases (9 months):
- PHASE ONE: Ideation (30 entrepreneurs)
- Defining and Refining your Product-Market-Fit
- PHASE TWO: Go-to-Market (15 entrepreneurs)
- Support Services to develop your Communications, Marketing, and Impact Strategy and implementation plan
- PHASE THREE: Investment readiness (10 entrepreneurs)
- Support services to develop your investment-raising plan + financial model
Criteria
They are a non-profit and impact incubator in South Africa offering skills development, training and support for entrepreneurs, introducing one of the country’s first food incubation programmes in an effort to help solve the hunger crisis.
Selection Criteria
- Early-stage social enterprises and non-profits (6m – 3yrs)
- High potential to create social economic and environmental value
- Well-tested idea with validated proof of concept
- Proven capacity to generate revenue
- Ability to contribute up to R1000 p/m to their cohort’s business stokvel by week 12
- Strong willingness to integrate women and/or youth in value chain
