Deadline: 23-Oct-2025
The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched a new call for proposals in Burkina Faso’s Centre-Nord region to enhance food security and improve the targeting of vulnerable households for inclusion in the Single Social Registry (SSR).
This initiative forms part of WFP’s broader strategy to strengthen data-driven social protection systems and ensure that assistance is directed to the poorest and most food-insecure communities.
Through this project, WFP aims to develop a reliable and comprehensive database of vulnerable households that can guide both immediate humanitarian interventions and long-term development planning. The process will rely on a structured approach involving community participation, technical assessments, and close coordination with local authorities.
To achieve this, community targeting agents will be recruited and trained to carry out field activities, including household data collection and verification. Their capacity will be strengthened to ensure accurate and efficient identification of vulnerable households. Local targeting committees will be established to oversee the process, while municipal coordination meetings between the Prefect, the Village Development Committee (CVD), and the targeting teams will ensure transparency and alignment with local priorities.
The targeting exercise will follow a multi-stage process beginning with general pre-identification meetings to engage community stakeholders. Data gathered during these sessions will be reconciled and verified through door-to-door visits to pre-identified households. Once validated, the information will be processed and compiled into a reconciled database of poor and vulnerable households.
This verified database will be shared with the Technical Secretariat for the Single Social Registry (ST/RSU), serving as an essential resource for future planning and response efforts. By integrating vulnerability analysis and market assessments into this initiative, WFP seeks to enhance the effectiveness of social protection mechanisms, strengthen local resilience, and promote equitable access to food security support in the Centre-Nord region of Burkina Faso.
