Deadline: 06-Aug-2025
The World Food Programme is now accepting applications for its second call for Standby Partners to support the implementation of Lean Season Assistance (LSA) and other emergency response programmes in Zimbabwe.
This call focuses on partners with expertise in food security, including both cash assistance and food distribution. The programme targets several regions in Zimbabwe, including Mashonaland Central, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Masvingo, Manicaland, Midlands, Mashonaland West, and Mashonaland East.
Applicants must demonstrate their capacity to successfully run humanitarian food security or social assistance programmes in rural Zimbabwe. This includes experience with both in-kind and cash-based interventions, community engagement, and livelihood support activities.
Applicants must also show the ability to implement projects efficiently and effectively, reaching the maximum number of food-insecure individuals while managing limited resources. A strong track record of working with UN agencies, donors, and government bodies, including local authorities, is required.
The capacity to co-finance projects—either through financial contributions or in-kind support such as staff, office space, or vehicles—is an important criterion. Proposals should clearly align with the Sustainable Development Goals, national and local food security strategies, and WFP’s Country Strategic Plan.
Successful applicants will also need to demonstrate integration of gender equality, nutrition, youth engagement, and environmental and social safeguards into their programming. A current field presence and experienced staff across all operational levels are essential.
Organisations must have experience conducting community-based training in areas such as livelihoods, gender, nutrition, and protection. To be eligible, NGOs must be registered under Zimbabwe’s Private Voluntary Organisations (PVO) Act, and the registration certificate must specify approval to implement food or cash assistance programmes.
Additionally, applicants must have a signed memorandum of understanding with district authorities or provide proof that such an agreement is being finalized. All applications must be submitted in English.
