Deadline: 05-Oct-2025
The Northern Territory is embracing the joys and benefits of recreational fishing through its Recreational Fishing Grants Scheme, part of the broader $50 million RecFishing Futures Program.
After a successful round of smaller grants earlier in the year, the spotlight now turns to the large grants, set to open in August. These grants offer organisations the chance to secure up to $75,000—making them ideal for larger-scale initiatives that enhance access to fishing, support local communities, and bolster the Territory’s renowned fishing culture.
This funding window is tailored to not-for-profit organisations that are incorporated and based in the NT, with projects that foster public access to fishing, improve infrastructure, or launch inclusive and sustainable events. Recipients might create new facilities, host large community fishing events, or spearhead interactive programs that engage residents across age groups and backgrounds. The scheme aims to ensure that recreational fishing remains a vibrant part of community life, easily accessible and enriching for all.
Applicants should prepare to demonstrate their community impact, project feasibility, and organisational capability. With the grant opening scheduled for August, interested organisations have time to conceptualise innovative approaches that celebrate the Territory’s waterways, foster inclusivity, and deliver lasting benefits.
