Deadline: 11-Aug-2025
The Greater Dandenong City Council’s Arts, Festivals and Events Grants stream is open to not-for-profit community groups and organisations to support projects that foster community connection, cultural exchange, and appreciation of diversity through creative and public programming. These grants aim to enhance community participation and social cohesion, playing a vital role in the cultural vibrancy of the area.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available to support eligible initiatives. Projects in the Festivals and Events category are expected to improve community connection, promote cross-cultural interaction, activate public spaces, increase accessibility, and encourage collaboration through joint events. Projects in the Arts category should demonstrate innovative artistic approaches, raise awareness of local issues, engage the community, reach new audiences, be inclusive, and also help activate public spaces.
To be eligible, applicants must be a not-for-profit incorporated association or similar legal entity, or be auspiced by one. They must operate in or serve residents of Greater Dandenong and have fulfilled all requirements of previous Council grants. Public liability insurance of at least $20 million is required, or applicants must show evidence of alternative coverage for project activities. All projects must be carried out within the designated funding period.
Individual artists may apply for arts or cultural projects up to $5,000. For projects over $5,000, a partnership with a local organisation is required. Schools may apply only for initiatives beyond their core responsibilities that benefit the wider community, not including regular curriculum-based activities.
The grant does not accept applications from individuals (except those leading approved artist projects), government agencies (with some exceptions), political organisations, or groups with incomplete grant reporting obligations.
