The Career Development Program supports arts professionals who have shown outstanding talent and are building a career in the arts. It offers targeted funding to help them advance through performance opportunities, professional growth, and promotional support.
The program has three parts. The Arts by Invitation component helps artists present their work when invited to established events. The Professional Development component funds scholarships, training, and mentorships. The Professionalization and Promotion component supports artists in creating promotional tools and expanding their audience and funding sources.
Funding is capped at $3,000 for the Arts by Invitation and Professional Development components, and $2,000 for Professionalization and Promotion.
Eligible expenses for Arts by Invitation include living expenses, artist fees, transportation, travel, accommodation, and other costs directly tied to the project. For Professional Development, eligible expenses include tuition or mentor fees, travel and accommodation, and any other project-related costs. For Professionalization and Promotion, costs such as professional service fees, materials, equipment rentals, production costs, and website-related expenses are eligible.
Ineligible expenses for Arts by Invitation and Professional Development include capital costs like studio purchases, business or administration fees, and promotional materials. For Professionalization and Promotion, capital and administration costs are also excluded.
To qualify, applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or First Nations affiliates living in New Brunswick for at least 12 months. They must also meet the definition of a professional artist as outlined by artsnb and have completed any required final reports from past funding.
Applications must include a 350-word project description, a balanced budget, artist CV, work samples, a letter of invitation from the host, and supporting documents for collaborators involved.
