International Visegrad Fund is announcing the Performing Artists Residency Program to support contemporary theater and dance in Central Europe by providing opportunities to host artists and companies from/in V4 countries.
Performing Artists residencies support innovation, experiment and creativity in the performing arts – new drama, contemporary dance, new circus, physical theatre, visual theater, alternative theater, performance art. The program is not suitable for stone theaters, already developed performances, or theater festivals.
Aims
- The Fund desires to provide financial support to applicants who are citizens of the Visegrad countries: Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia (hereinafter “V4”). Except for VARP–US, the any time nominated into the pool of experts bythe ministries of culture of the V4 countries, Host Organizations or former experts contracted by the Fund. The Fund shall review the nominated expert’s qualifications before including them in the pool of experts.
- Chairman of the selection committee shall be a representative of the country holding the Fund’s presidency. The artists will be selected from among V4 citizens based on proportionality.Exceptionally, should there be a lack of eligible candidates from one country, or should the Selection Committee determine by consensus a lack of applications of standard quality, the Selection Committee can fill in the list by other top candidates candidates from other V4 countries. Selection Committee determines ranking of candidates based on consensus. Selection Committee recommends winning proposals as well as a reserve list.Representative of the Fund has the obligation to ensure that the Selection Committee holds up to the Rules.
- The Council of Ambassadors, based upon the recommendation of the VARPSelection Committee, approves the list of selected artists together with the reserve list, which the Fund will use in case of VARP cancellations or any failure on the part of artist to sign the contract. This decision shall present no grounds for legal proceedings and require no detailed reasoning.
Benefits
- The support for individual residency is €2,000 for the host institution and €2,500 for the artist.
- The amount of support for group residency is €3,500 for the host institution and €5,500 for the group members.
Eligibility Criteria
- Both individual artists and artistic groups can apply for this type of support.
- The applicant/s must be citizen from V4 country over the age of 18.
- Applicants for group residencies (3 artists or more) may come from different V4 countries (group members, however, must come from V4 countries other than the destination country).
- The place of residency must be different than the applicant’s citizenship and residence.
- Each applicant can get support only once per calendar year.
- The length of support is 1 month.
- Residencies can take place between January 10, 2023 to December 31, 2023.
