Deadline: 17-Aug-2025
The Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships offer unrestricted, tax-free grants over two years to support early mid-career Australian artists, creatives, and cultural leaders. These fellowships are not tied to specific outcomes and are awarded based on two main criteria: outstanding talent and exceptional courage in the fellow’s creative practice.
Each Creative Fellow receives a grant of $100,000 per year, paid in tax-free instalments. The fellowship is intended to provide freedom and flexibility, allowing recipients to focus on their work without the pressure of deliverables or reporting requirements.
Eligible nominees must be early mid-career professionals, typically with at least seven years of practice but not more than two decades of experience. They must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and must primarily reside in Australia during the fellowship period. Self-nominations and nominations from family members are not allowed.
The program is designed to support originating artists and cultural leaders. Practitioners whose primary work is in education or therapy, such as music therapists, are not eligible. Nominators should be people who can best speak to the nominee’s talent and courage, though they can be based overseas and do not need to be Australian citizens.
Applications can include up to five items of support material, such as audio/visual files, support letters, or a CV. The nominee’s CV should be no longer than two pages and clearly demonstrate their years of practice. Each support letter or one-page testimonial counts as one item. The total length of any submitted video or audio must not exceed 20 minutes.
When including online materials, applicants should use the standard password “Fellowship25” for access. All materials must be clearly labelled. A separate summary document with captions or passwords may also be submitted and does not count toward the five-item limit.
