Entries are now open for the Creative Museum competition to support partnership projects of museums and museum organizations with representatives of the creative industries, which contribute to strengthening the role of museums as drivers for the development of the creative community to solve social problems and increase citizens’ interest in cultural heritage.
Competition Goals
- Strengthening long-term positive changes – the social effect – from the implementation of the Foundation’s charitable programs.
- Promoting the consolidation of creative forces in the regions for the production of cultural content and creative products of a new quality.
- Creating a favorable environment for the successful development of new areas of museum activity and attracting new audiences and partners to museums.
- Strengthening the positive image of the regions of Russia through the formation or strengthening of their identity.
Possibilities
- Support is provided to legal entities – organizations engaged in museum activities or activities for the preservation of cultural heritage.
Award Information
- For the implementation of projects, in the form of grants in the amount of up to 3,500,000 rubles for a period of at least 12 and no more than 18 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition can be attended by staff members or involved specialists of Russian museums and organizations engaged in museum activities, located and operating on the territory of the Russian Federation and registered in accordance with applicable law:
- Registered in the organizational and legal form having the word “museum” in their name and / or carry out museum activities in accordance with the Charter / Regulations on activities:
- Museums: state and municipal (state budgetary, autonomous) and private (non-state) institutions;
- Professional museum or creative associations, or associations created in the form of non-profit organizations;
- Non-governmental non-profit organizations;
- Are independent non-commercial legal entities (that is, they have their own TIN, charter without reference to the charter of the parent organization, current account);
- or structural / separate subdivisions of non-commercial legal entities: departments, departments, branches, representative offices, territorial divisions (they have Regulations on activities, but may not have their own TIN, charter or current account, or have a charter with reference to the charter of the parent organization).
- Registered in the organizational and legal form having the word “museum” in their name and / or carry out museum activities in accordance with the Charter / Regulations on activities:
- Organizations must meet the following requirements:
- not be in the process of liquidation, they should not be subject to insolvency (bankruptcy) proceedings, the activities of the organization should not be suspended in the manner prescribed by law;
- Must be registered no later than six months before the deadline for accepting applications for participation in the competition.
- The number of projects from one museum organization is not limited, provided that each project is submitted by a separate applicant.
- Participants of the competition cannot be:
- Individual entrepreneurs (IE) and commercial organizations of any form: business partnerships and companies, business partnerships, production cooperatives, state and municipal unitary enterprises, as well as their separate subdivisions (branches and representative offices);
- Political parties;
- Religious organizations.
- Applicants cannot be:
- Government officials;
- employees of organizations that are the Fund’s current program partners, specified in non-closed work contracts, paid services, agency agreements with the Fund as responsible executors (contact persons) or members of the project team, and their close relatives;
- Persons specified as project managers in non-closed grant or donation agreements for any programs of the Foundation concluded on behalf of organizations.

Project Focus
- Participation in projects of partners – representatives of creative industries and/or communities is a prerequisite for participation in the competition. Partners can be organizations, informal associations or individuals who are ready to use elements of museum collections or cultural heritage in their production or creative activities. For example, but not limited to:
- Design or production workshops;
- Manufacturers of interior items, furniture production;
- Manufacturers of textiles, clothing, footwear;
- Culinary production and food outlets;
- Manufacturers of jewelry and souvenirs;
- Producers of media products and cultural content;
- Informal associations in the sphere of culture;
- Public spaces, etc.
- Project partners should be actively involved in the creative process of rethinking the museum heritage and developing a new product, and not just fulfill the order of the museum organization for its production.
- The competition will support partnership projects of museum organizations and creative (creative) industries and/or communities, involving the creation of new creative products for the museum and/or for the region based on existing museum collections, but not limited to:
- Design objects: industrial, subject, souvenir products, etc. based on museum collections, including souvenir products for the museum itself;
- Visual, incl. navigation and design, solutions for museum public spaces, expositions, exhibitions, routes, etc.;
- Specially organized exhibition and excursion programs that help to update the museum heritage and include it in modern life: new formats of work with the history of everyday life and modernity, that is, professionalization aimed at the project, and not the research layer;
- educational, research, project-oriented, information, communication programs that stimulate the creative activity of citizens and their participation in the creation of new products based on museum collections: discussions, lectures, creative meetings, master classes, etc., including full-time programs and media content;
- Other projects to develop partnerships with creative communities and/or creative professionals in the region.
- The project must be implemented on the territory of the Russian Federation.

- replicability: the possibility of applying the proposed tools, products and results to other organizations;
- Partnership potential and partnership effectiveness: participation of other professionals and organizations, incl. from other areas of activity; their motivation to participate, balance of roles;
- Risk management: assessment by the team of possible risks and the feasibility of their prevention/mitigation plan.
- Sustainability: the feasibility of developing the project after the completion of support and its viability, incl. the contribution of the organization and attracted resources;
- Realistic budget: compliance of costs with the stated goals and results.
