The Goethe-Institut in Lebanon is pleased to announce an Open Call for applications for the 3rd edition of the Ta’ziz-Partnership Project “ArtEvolution”.
Intended to provide a support program and production grant for up to ten participants presenting five projects, ArtEvolution seeks to provide a platform for creatives to produce an impactful and socially-politically relevant performance.
Funding Information
The program consists of two short-term production residencies (May & September), a production fund of up to 8.000 € per project, a five-month time frame, in which participants work on their project, get supported by a mentor through monthly meetings, and a program of five monthly workshops.
Eligibility Criteria
- Artists and cultural practitioners in and around the field of performing arts based in Lebanon, who already have experience in writing concepts and producing performances in the field of socio-political topics.
- Applicants should have completed at least one artistic work or have initial experience in their field.
- Applicants should apply with an already finalized project concept, but not yet produced and performed in front of an audience.
- Applicants should be willing to present a finalized performance to the public at least two times in the fall of 2023.
- Projects are open to all artistic directions in the performing arts and related fields.
- Individuals and collectives (up to 2 applicants) may apply.
- Five projects will be supported, and up to ten applicants will be selected.
- Applicants must also meet the following criteria:
- Motivation and willingness to pursue an artistic practice in a collaborative manner.
- Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the project they wish to produce and to the program (May – November 2023) in general.
- Willingness to report on and document the project during the period of the program.
- Willingness to participate in the following activities of the program and adhere to this schedule:
- Mid-May 2023: 1st short term residency
- May-September 2023: Individual monthly mentoring and monthly group workshops
- June-November 2023: Impulse Sessions (accompanying outreach program) with up to eleven events on the topics addressed by the artists.
- End of September 2023: 2nd short-term residency and final performance in front of an audience
- September – November 2023: up to three public events to present the participant’s finalized work in Beirut and two other locations in Lebanon, followed by a discussion with the artist(s) and his/her/their mentor.
