Deadline: 31-Aug-2025
OFFCITY AiR 2026 presents an open call inviting artists, architects, theorists, and interdisciplinary collectives to explore the theme of interspaces during a residency in Pardubice.
The residency centres on interspaces as subtle cracks in the fabric of the city, from gaps between buildings to unused courtyards and forgotten corners, and also treats interspaces as a metaphor for rifts between beings, communities, and the human and non-human world, encouraging participants to imagine alternative futures through engagement with these spaces.
OFFCITY, an independent platform based in Pardubice, supports creative dialogue and practice that blends art, architecture, and urbanism. The residency invites creators and researchers to explore interspaces from varied angles and perspectives, continuing a tradition of exploring public space through lenses such as visual smog, graffiti, personal narratives, movement trajectories, urban greenery, and architecture. Successful applicants, approximately three projects, are offered a nurturing environment to develop their concepts and share their findings in a public presentation—such as a guided walk, performance, or happening.
Participants receive an artist fee of CZK 1,400 per person per day, accommodation and workspace in a live-in studio for one to three weeks (which may be split), basic production support, consultations, and opportunities to network with local cultural initiatives, organizations, and artists—all while travel expenses are covered by the residents themselves. The residency takes place by agreement anytime between March and October 2026.
Residents are expected to actively participate in the residency, communicate openly, demonstrate respect for the place, its people, and its non-human inhabitants, and deliver one public presentation during or shortly after the residency as agreed. The application deadline is August 31, 2025, and results will be announced by October 10, 2025. Applicants are required to submit a project proposal of up to 300 words, a short artistic or creative statement of up to 200 words, their CV, and a portfolio (up to 5 A4 pages in PDF or an online portfolio link) in either Czech or English.
