The Dutch Embassy in Brussels offers financial support for cultural and artistic projects in Belgium that enhance the presence of Dutch culture and foster collaboration between Belgium and the Netherlands.
These calls for subsidy aim to help professional artists, institutions, and organisations working across various disciplines to build cross‑border partnerships and deliver public cultural experiences.
Projects eligible for funding must either be purely Dutch projects staged in Belgium or collaborations between Dutch and Belgian partners. They are expected to strengthen the cultural and artistic profile of the Netherlands in Belgium. Public access to the event or programme is required, which means that projects accessible only to a closed or private group typically will not qualify.
All professional creators or institutions in Belgium with a valid business identification number may apply. The eligible fields are broad, covering everything from performing arts and contemporary visual arts to creative industries — particularly architecture, design, fashion, and digital art — as well as cultural heritage. Multi‑disciplinary projects are welcomed, especially those that bring innovation in presentation methods or engage with inclusion, participation, sustainability, and exchange across borders.
The grant can cover costs related to the Dutch part of the project, such as travel and lodging for Dutch participants, production or transport costs of artistic materials, and communication expenses associated with the Dutch component. Applicants need to prepare a full budget for the entire project plus a detailed breakdown of the portion for which funding is requested from the embassy. Even though the embassy contributes, it expects the applicant to show their own contribution; the project should be viable without the embassy’s support.
Subsidy amounts range between about €500 and €5,000 per project. This grant programme is an excellent chance for professional cultural actors in Belgium and for Dutch‑Belgian partnerships who want to realise artistic work with public impact, build cross‑border networks and visibility, and experiment with new forms or methods in the arts.
