Deadline: 13-Oct-2025
The Netherlands Film Fund is offering the Realization Research & Experiment Grant Program to support the production of majority Dutch short or long films that are investigative, groundbreaking, experimental, or artistic, with applications open until October 13, 2025.
The focus of this subsidy is that the film in question must contribute to the creative and technical innovation of cinematography, with the Fund prioritizing high-quality, diverse, and daring content in its selection.
Independent production companies that have been legally established for at least two years in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU, the EEA, or Switzerland are eligible to apply, provided they are represented by a producer with prior experience in the realization and release of independent, artistic, and experimental film productions in the Dutch professional film or television sector or the visual arts circuit. The producer may not also be the director or screenwriter of the film. For projects requesting less than €50,000, directors with proven production experience in the artistic and experimental sector can apply independently.
The Fund offers contributions ranging from €50,000 to €100,000, with the possibility of higher amounts for exceptionally high-quality projects. The contribution can cover up to 85% of the production budget, with an additional earmarked €5,000 available for distribution.
Applications are assessed in two parts: content-related evaluation by film consultants and production/business evaluation by the Production and Subsidy Office departments, with final decisions made by the director/manager of the Fund. It is important to note that a grant award does not guarantee funding for subsequent applications.
