Deadline: 29-Sep-2025
The Open Fund for Music Creators supports the development of outstanding music creators of all genres and backgrounds at different stages of their career.
The Open Fund for Music Creators supports projects by music creators who are writing their own music or commissioning others. Music Creators’ projects must fulfil all three of their funding priorities: To support the creation, performance and promotion of outstanding new music in any genre, to enable the UK’s most talented music creators to realise their potential, and to reach audiences.
This fund offers grants of up to £5,000 for high-quality new music projects that have tangible musical outcomes and a clearly defined start and end date. The fund cannot support 100% of the project costs, and applicants are expected to show income from other sources. Disabled music creators with access requirements may require more than £5,000 in grant support.
The funding can be used for various costs, including the creation of new music, music creator fees, touring and live performances, recording and release, creative residency costs, fees to creative collaborators, and promotion and marketing when there is also an element of creation and/or performance. Equipment costs are also eligible but must not exceed 20% of the total project budget.
There are certain activities that the fund cannot support. These include projects with no element of live performance or creation, bursaries, tuition or education costs, scholarships, and activity that has already taken place. The purchase of vans and cars, building a studio, or any project raising funds for another charity are also not supported.
They are advised to submit their total project budget and requested amount without considering the additional access costs. An extra budget question will allow them to detail these needs, which will be considered by the management team without affecting the funding decision.
Eligible applicants must be based in the UK, aged 18 or over (unless represented by an adult with a valid DBS check), and have a track record of over 18 months. Music Creators, as defined by PRS Foundation, include songwriters, composers, artists, bands, producers, and performers who are involved in the composition or writing process. Application closes on 29 September 2025.
