Calling for nominations for the 2019 N-Peace Awards. Through its yearly awards, the N-Peace network aims to recognize influential people with extraordinary commitments who share powerful stories as activists and peace-builders.
Around 11 awards are set to be presented to grass root activists, prominent campaigners and potential peace advocates. Former recipients the awards display an active involvement in decision-making and policy interventions in local and national level.
Awards presented in various categories envision to- “recognize individuals who work on women, peace and security by profiling, documenting and highlighting their work and achievements”. They are intended to further the cause of peace, gender equality, equal participation, and empowerment of women.
Categories and Criteria
- UNTOLD STORIES
- Untold Stories shines a light on women peacebuilders from the following countries: Afghanistan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. One woman is awarded per country. Nominees must be residing in any of the listed countries, above the age of 26 years, and working on furthering peace through gender equality and equal participation.
- CAMPAIGNING FOR ACTION
- Campaigning for Action recognizes women and gender champions using their voices to advance Women, Peace and Security. One woman and one man from any of the following countries is eligible: Afghanistan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Nominees must be over the age of 26 years, and have demonstrable experience in addressing gender equality issues from leadership, policy and decision-making levels.
- THE PEACE GENERATION
- Young peacebuilders between the ages of 18 and 25 years who have been mobilizing communities to promote women’s inclusion and empowerment are eligible to be nominated for The Peace Generation Award. One woman and one man from: Afghanistan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka will be selected.
Nominees who meet the criteria will have their profile shared online for the public to cast their votes. Top three candidates receiving most votes in each category will be screened by panel of experts and recognized with the N-peace award 2019.
