The Human Trafficking Foundation is pleased to announce its Anti-Slavery Day Awards.
Categories
- Nominations are invited in two categories:
- Anti-Slavery Day Media Awards: Whilst there is still a long way to go in the fight against modern slavery, it is important to take stock and recognise the work of those in the media who have highlighted the nature and prevalence of modern slavery and human trafficking in an accurate and effective way.
- Best written opinion piece dealing with modern slavery or human trafficking
- Best news piece dealing with modern slavery or human trafficking
- Best investigative news piece dealing with modern slavery or human trafficking
- Best broadcast piece (e.g. podcast, film etc.) dealing with modern slavery or human trafficking
- Marsh Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Fight Against Modern Slavery:
- Reducing Vulnerabilities (Advocacy Award): This category recognises those working to achieve systemic change to reduce the prevalence of modern slavery or improving outcomes for survivors’ rights and entitlements on a long-term basis.
- Rebuilding Lives (Frontline Award): This category recognises those enhancing support for survivors. It considers work that takes a holistic approach to addressing individual needs and helps survivors rebuild their lives and strengthen resilience.
- Empowering Survivor Voices: This category recognises the impact of survivor leaders’ voices who have shaped the agenda and empowered others to do the same.
- Statutory Services Award: This category recognises the outstanding contribution of statutory services who have gone above and beyond their legal duties to respond to modern slavery.
- Anti-Slavery Day Media Awards: Whilst there is still a long way to go in the fight against modern slavery, it is important to take stock and recognise the work of those in the media who have highlighted the nature and prevalence of modern slavery and human trafficking in an accurate and effective way.
Funding Information
- Marsh Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Fight Against Modern Slavery: Each award winner will receive a trophy and a grant of £1,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Anti-Slavery Day Media Awards:
- Anyone can submit a nomination for the Media Awards.
- Any media journalist, writer, producer or director in the UK for work covering issues of modern slavery or human trafficking.
- The date of first broadcast or publication for nominations must be between 1st July 2024 – 30th June 2025.
- Marsh Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Fight Against Modern Slavery:
- Anyone professionally connected to modern slavery or anyone who benefits from the services that an organisation responding to modern slavery provides can submit a nomination.
- Any individual, organisation or group that has made a significant contribution to preventing or addressing modern slavery in the UK.
- They welcome nominations for voluntary, public and private sectors. Nominations of public officials are welcomed.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Anti-Slavery Day Media Awards:
- They do not accept self-nominations.
- They do not encourage, and no additional points will be awarded for, multiple nominations of the same nomine.
- Marsh Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Fight Against Modern Slavery:
- They do not accept self-nominations or nominations for the organisation you work for.
- They do not encourage, and no additional points will be awarded for, multiple nominations of the same nominee.
Judging Criteria
- Anti-Slavery Day Media Awards:
- All nominations will be judged on the following criteria: Whilst there is still a long way to go in the fight against modern slavery, it is important to take stock and recognise the individuals and organisations going above and beyond to make a difference. The Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Fight Against Modern Slavery, supported by the Marsh Charitable Trust, includes four categories to celebrate exemplary work which has had a significant impact on tackling modern slavery in the UK over the past year.
- Respects and dignifies survivors
- Is well written and is impactful
- Is well researched and/or informed
- Is creative or innovative in its approach
