Are you working with innovate solutions that will pave the way for solving the World´s biggest global challenges? Do you want to be a Sustainable Development Goals entrepreneur? If yes, then Tuborgfondet and the Danish Foundation for Entrepreneurship is seeking applications for its Micro Grant to strengthen young entrepreneurs and new business, which are driven by solving global challenges.
The Micro Grant gives pupils/students the opportunity to gain valuable experience with entrepreneurship. From their impact assessments they know that this experience very much influence their desire to become entrepreneurs. At the same time, the purpose of the initiative is to raise a positive awareness about entrepreneurship and talented entrepreneurs at the Danish educational institutions. Here, the Micro Grant recipients often function as role models for their peers. Each year, they receive around 400 applications and award around 130 Micro Grants.
Since 2011, the Danish Foundation for Entrepreneurship has awarded Micro Grants to students with startup ambitions. By contributing a small economic aid to students’ early startup of their own business, the long-term goal is to create growth companies that contribute with jobs, export income and growth in society.
What can you apply for?
- You can either apply for a regular micro grant or a SDG micro grant. You can apply for an SDG micro grant if you work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals in your business. Read more about the SDG micro grant here.
- You can apply without a CVR number (if you are still in the idea phase) or with a CVR number (if you have registered your business within the past year).
- Without a CVR number, you can apply up to DKK 25,000 to cover the earliest costs before starting your business.
- With a CVR number, you can apply up to DKK 50,000, which must be used to reach a maturity stage, to obtain other growth capital. This micro-grant requires 25% self-financing on top of the grant.
- If you have applied and received a grant without a CVR number, you can apply again and have the opportunity to get a grant with a CVR number.
- Applies to applications with CVR number only:
- If you have a CVR number it MUST be created for the idea you are looking for and it must not be older than 12 months
- At least one co-founder of the company (standing as founder of the CVR number) must be a student
- Applicant must always stand as founder of CVR number
- Your startup must not have had a turnover above DKKR 50,000 or have received other funding above DKKR 25,000
What can the grant be used for?
Part of the application process is to submit a budget that shows what the applicant will use the Micro Grant for. The budget is therefore always adapted to the actual needs of the applicant. However, it is important that the Grant is used for activities that will make the idea or business come closer to the market, to proof of concept, growth or job creation. Therefore, these aspects will be taken into consideration in the evaluation of your application.

- Students who are driven to create growth dare take the initiative and be brave and innovative
- Ideas that will benefit noticeably from the Micro Grant and bring the idea closer to the market
- Companies that have growth potential
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be over the age of 18 and enrolled at an education in Denmark to apply for a Micro Grant. You can apply up to 3 months after you finish your education.
- They are looking for students who has the drive to create growth, who is brave enough to take initiative and have some innovative ideas that will benefit from the Micro Grant.
- Pupils, students and Ph.D. students enrolled in a full-time education at an educational institution in Denmark.
- Pupils, students and Ph.D. students who has completed their education within the last 3 months at the time of application (the deadline date).
- The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
- At least half of the team / company must be students enrolled in a full-time education at an educational institution in Denmark.
