Nominations are now open for its Business Excellence Awards to recognise innovation, sustainability and excellence across businesses of all types.
The Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Business Excellence Awards celebrates businesses delivering excellence and making a difference to their staff, customers and community. Businesses can enter one of nine categories, with the winners of each category going into the running for the Business of the Year.
Categories
- There are nine categories
- Agriculture and Manufacturing Businesses that demonstrate a commitment to innovation and sustainability in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors.
- Creative Industries Businesses demonstrating exceptional innovation, creativity, talent or ideas which are produced as products or services.
- Health and Community Can include not-for-profit, businesses and organisations delivering excellence in health, allied health or community services and demonstrate innovation, commitment, and connection to the community.
- Hospitality Businesses consistently delivering high quality food and/or beverage experiences and excellent customer services to the public including cafes and restaurants.
- Professional Services Businesses providing customer and business advice via customised, knowledge-based services offering real solutions and assistance. Includes legal services, real estate, accounting and financial advisory, architecture, engineering, information technology and consulting.
- Retail Businesses offering an exceptional and/or unique retail experience. Maintains a high level of store presentation and exceptional customer service Must demonstrate an established in-store and online presence.
- Start Up Business Newcomers (operating since 2020) offering a unique or innovative product and/or service developed from an identified gap in a market.
- Tourism Businesses providing a unique customer experience, and offer a well-crafted, signature product. Businesses providing tourism services and/or products to both the local community and visitors to the region. This can include an attraction, experience or tour or tourism accommodation.
- Trade, Building and Construction Businesses delivering exceptional service in the specialist trades via their skills and products that adhere to industry standards derived from a trades certificate, training and experience.
Benefits
- Each category winner will receive a trophy, certificate, and permission to display the “Winner, 2022 Mornington Peninsula Business Excellence Awards” logo on their digital platforms and marketing collateral. Each category winner will also receive a media partner prize:

Eligibility Criteria
- Business owners or employees of the business can submit nominations.
- If your businesses is located in the Mornington Peninsula Shire local government area, and was a registered business as at 1 July 2021, you can enter. You also need to have an ABN and all relevant licenses, permits and approvals required to operate your business.
- Businesses under administration, in debt to Council, chain stores, franchisor or franchisees, political groups, charities, government agencies, schools, charities that have a primary focus of fundraising, own or operate electronic gaming machines (EGM) or receive funding or in-kind support from EGM venues, are ineligible to enter.
- Organisations whose staff and/or business units are directly employed by Mornington Peninsula Shire or government agencies are not eligible to enter the Awards as an entrant. This includes Councillors.
