Applications are Open for “Gender Equality and YOU” Conference with an aim to inspiring a positive, open and future-oriented dialogue about gender equality.
In the area of gender equality, the focus of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the 2nd half of 2018 lies on the topic “Youth and Gender Equality”.
Aims & Objectives
The conference will provide a space for exchange and discussion at eye-level among young people, youth representatives, ministers, representatives from NGOs and public administration, international and EU bodies.
- Discussing young persons’ visions for the future of gender equality in their countries and in the EU
- Exploring perceptions and experiences between persons from different generations and Member States
- Identifying needs for change to strengthen gender equality

Expected Outcomes
- The event aims to inspire future policy discussions on the topic on EU and Member State level
- A summarising publication shall support the continuation and implementation of the conference results
- The conference output is a basis for draft Council Conclusions on ‘Gender equality, youth and digitalisation’ in the context of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action review. The draft Conclusions shall be proposed for adoption by the Council of the European Union (EPSCO) in December 2018.
Eligibility Criteria
- The conference organisers aim to ensure diversity also in terms of participants’ gender, age, organisational background and country of residence.
- The eligibility criteria for a financed participation are:
- resident of an EU member state
- having a strong interest in the topic of gender equality
- able to work in English
- aged between 16-30 years
