The SAB Foundation is seeking applications for its Entrepreneurship Programmes to provide various elements of business support by knowing the types of entrepreneurs the applicants are and helping them select the programme that best suits their needs.
The creation of SAB KickStart, SAB Foundation, SAB Accelerator and SAB Thrive shows their commitment to providing a tangible and sustainable future for South Africans. Their programmes continue to provide invaluable coaching and financial support to the businesses they partner with to drive economic growth and add to job creation.
SAB Foundation is empowering women, youth, people living in rural areas and people living with disabilities to become entrepreneurs.

Types of Programmes & Eligibility Criteria
- Tholoana Programme: This two-year business support programme is designed by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs. It assists entrepreneurs with access to markets and the potential for seed-funding.
- Eligibility Criteria
- The business is black-owned and managed.
- The business is operational for between 6 months and 5 years.
- The business should be a going concern, commercially sustainable and viable.
- The applicant is involved in the business’s daily operations and management on a full-time basis, and is not employed by any other organisation.
- Eligibility Criteria
- Kickstart Boost: Its key objective is to support high-potential youth-owned business to become suppliers to organisations in the private and public sector, thereby increasing their success, and fast-tracking transformation of the economy.
- Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants are aged 18 – 35.
- Applicants are a South African citizen by birth.
- The business is black-owned* and managed
- Applicants have an existing business operating for more than 2 years.
- Applicants are at a post-revenue stage with a minimum of R200 000.
- The business should be a going concern, commercially sustainable and viable.
- The applicant is involved in the business’s daily operations and management on a full-time basis, and is not employed by any other organisation.
- Eligibility Criteria
- Kickstart Ignite: SAB KickStart Ignite supports youth entrepreneurs with innovative businesses, products or services, that have the potential to grow into viable businesses.
- Eligibility Criteria
- South African citizen by birth.
- Youth (aged 18 – 35).
- Pre-start up (business ideas) and early stage.
- The innovation can be a product or a service.
- Eligibility Criteria
- SAB Thrive: The SAB Thrive Fund is the SAB Supplier Development Fund, which has the mandate to create both stronger and more black-owned suppliers in the SAB supply chain.
- Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to apply for funding from the SAB Thrive Fund, applicants must be:
- A black-owned or white-owned supplier to SAB, with a total turnover less than R50 million in the last financial year (I.e. The supplier has a vendor number and has provided a product / service to SAB.)
- A black-owned supplier looking to expand their business through the introduction of growth equity and partnership with the SAB Thrive Fund
- A white-owned supplier looking to transform their B-BBEE ownership by enabling a Black Entrepreneur(s) to purchase equity in the business via the SAB Thrive Fund, and operate that business alongside the existing management team
- The product or service provided to SAB must fall within any one of the following areas of SAB’s Supply Chain:
- Brewing Materials
- Marketing & Sales
- Supply Chain & Logistics
- Packaging Materials
- Professional Business Services
