Applications are open for the “First Francophone African Regional Youth Forum on World Heritage” to increase awareness among French-speaking African youth on issues related to the protection and preservation of World Heritage and to create a sustainable platform that will enhance the participation of young people in the field of the protection of World Heritage in Africa.
The Forum is jointly organized by the African World Heritage Fund (AWHF), the Government of Burkina Faso and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
Forum Objectives
- Educate youth on issues related to the protection and preservation of heritage worldwide through a thorough understanding of the Convention concerning the Protection of World Cultural and Natural and the World Heritage Committee.
- Mobilize and involve young people by encouraging them to develop sustainable initiatives Environmental issues in their countries and the Sustainable development by 2030.
- To promote intergenerational dialogue and exchange of knowledge among young people, Experts and specialists in the field of World Heritage, particularly in academia.
- Deepen reflection with young people on improvements in Heritage education in Africa.
- Encourage the participation of young people in activities (corporate or otherwise) of Sustainable management of World Heritage including tourism development.
Eligibility Criteria
The selection of participants in the Forum will be based on the following criteria:
- Profile: Aged 20-28 years.
- Applicants must be the nationals of the countries mentioned below.
- Mastery of the French language.
- Young people who are passionate about protecting heritage in their country, having Participated in projects in this field.
- Motivated, active and ready to engage in a network of young Africans Implement the results of the forum in their countries.
- Full application (form, CV, cover letter, letter of recommendation & video).
- Diversity and complementarity of experience among the participants.
- Being a person of influence and have the ability to motivate other young people of his country and those in the Africa Region.
