Deadline: 13 May 2019
The Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) is seeking project ideas to support dialogue and the establishment of coalitions for a society based on solidarity.
The Foundation provides funding for organisations that do not look the other way, but which join together with others when hate against Jews, Roma, Sinti or other groups becomes visible. With their projects, these organisations demonstrate active commitment to diversity in society and are helping bring about conditions that enable people wherever they are to live together in security and mutual respect.
Objectives
- people and organisations who want to get to know each other and establish stable coalitions that work to combat antisemitism, antigypsyism and racism in their various forms;
- the elimination of prejudice and the strengthening of tolerance, respect, solidarity and social cohesion.
Project Idea
The Foundation supports projects that work locally with others to
- develop creative ideas, with details of campaigns and interventions,
- integrate the history of National Socialism and continuing manifestations of antisemitism or antigypsyism or the analysis of historical revisionism and Holocaust denial into their work (where practicable in terms of content),
- unleash the potential for lively debate and open up possible courses of action.
Funding Information
- Support will be provided for personnel and non-personnel costs. Coalitions must be clearly identified in the project cost plan. The Foundation expects financially secure applicants to make an appropriate contribution themselves. Projects can make use of third-party funding. The minimum and maximum levels of project support are EUR 20,000 and EUR 50,000 respectively.
- Applicants can start their project on 1 October 2019 or 1 November 2019. The maximum project term is initially 12 months.
Networking Services and Training
The projects that receive support will learn about coalition building through cross-border networking activities and training events; they will also be continuously monitored/evaluated. The experience applicants gain will also be channelled into the further development of funding programmes. After the selection of the best project ideas, a networking and advisory conference will be held in Berlin, probably 27 and 28 June 2019. Coalitions must be willing to take an active part in the support programme.
Eligibility Criteria
The Foundation EVZ supports civil-society organisations or institutions in Germany, Lithuania, Poland and the Czech Republic that would like to join a coalition. It is important that
- different groups take part in the coalition (at least two, cooperating on an equal footing);
- at least one group with either a Jewish or Sinti/Roma background is involved, ideally a self- organisation;
- at least one local institution underpins applicant’s support (e.g. political or administrative body, company, library, museum, police, media, education, religious community etc.).
