Deadline: 30 December 2019
7amleh – Arab Center for Social Media Advancement is seeking proposals for its Palestine Digital Activism Forum.
Yet Palestine and Palestinians lack many of the basic laws that could ensure that digitalization does not lead to further violations of their digital rights and human rights: the right to privacy, the right to freedom of expression, and the right to political assembly, among others.
From March 23 – 27th 2020, 7amleh and dozens of local and international members of civil society, the public and private sector, as well as activists, journalists, technologists, engineers and digital experts will come together under the theme: “Digitizing Palestine – Between Threats and Opportunities”.
7amleh – The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media is a non-profit organization focused on protecting the human rights of Palestinians in the online space. Forum theory of change is based on three main pillars; building the capacity of Palestinians to advocate for their rights, supporting the development of effective public campaigns, and conducting research and advocacy to document digital rights violations and advocate for upholding human rights and the rule of law.
7amleh created the PDAF to discuss and study on this issue during a week in March in more than 16 different locations in historical Palestine. The obective of the Forum is to discuss challenges faced by the Palestinian civil society and to raise awarness on digital rights activism, and to offer a space to exchange experience and knowledge with local and international ograniations to create a purposeful goal.
