Deadline: 3 June 2020
Creative Places Tuam is seeking applications from artists connected to the Tuam area whose collaborative socially engaged practice has been disrupted due to the COVID 19 restrictions.
The purpose of this bursary is to support and nurture professional artists’ practice within the Tuam town and hinterland area that has been disrupted during this time of crisis. It is specifically aimed at an artist who has a track record of working collaboratively with communities of place or interest. The bursary will provide the selected artist with time and resources to carry out research and to reflect on their practice. More particularly, the bursary allows the artist to consider key questions associated with their practice using collaborative methodologies.
Creative Places is a three year programme for the people of Tuam. The programme led by Create – the national development agency for collaborative arts, aims to develop a collaborative approach to creativity and arts engagement, building capacity for a rich engaged artistic and cultural practice in the town and its hinterlands. It makes space for new ideas and new collaborations. This initiative is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland.
Aims
Creative Places Tuam aims to offer the artist:
- Time to reflect and reconfigure their practice in relation to the current COVID 19 restrictions.
- Time to consider digital and virtual space as a valid and essential arena for collaborative artistic endeavour.
- Time to think on how their practice will emerge from this time of physical distancing and restriction
- Time to reach out and connect to vital collaborators, networks, peers and other socially engaged artists, academics, community leaders etc. to develop a discourse on their practice during this time.
