Dallas Women’s Foundation is seeking applications from eligible organisations for 2016 Community Grants with an aim to invest in women and girls and empower women’s philanthropy to build a better world. The Foundation envisions an equitable society where women and girls are full participants.
The Foundation was created to address the fact that women and girls are affected differently and disproportionately by almost every major societal issue, yet generally have fewer resources to address those issues.
Funding Information: Maximum grant request per applicant is $30,000 for a year.
Focus Areas
- Prevention of violence against women
- Economic justice for women and girls – welfare to work, job training, career planning, removing barriers to obtaining/maintaining employment
- Prevention/early intervention for girls – teen pregnancy prevention & intervention, self-esteem building, mentoring, deterrence from the use of drugs and participation in gangs
- Educational enhancement for women and girls – deter truancy and/or dropping out of school, promote higher education, promote basic education, English as a second language, STEM programming
- Workforce development and literacy/e-literacy
- Access to healthcare
- Operating funds – Dallas Women’s Foundation does provide funds for operating expenses
- Capacity Building Grants
- Policy Programs
- Increasing Engagement Programs
- Housing and services for women ages 75 years and older, helping them age in place
- Organizations and/or programs that serve women in suburban areas outside of the City of Dallas
Priority Areas
- Effective long-term, positive changes to help women succeed in reaching their full potential
- Expanded choices and opportunities for women and girls
- Evaluation tools that include measurement for effectiveness with clear definitions of program success
- Programs specifically designed to take into consideration the gender-specific needs and differences of women and girls

Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations must have a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt designation from the Internal Revenue Service
- At least 50% of the clients benefitting from funding must be residents of Dallas, Denton or Collin County
- At least 75% of clients benefitting from grant funding must be women and/or girls
- Previous grantees must be current on evaluation submissions
- Only online applications will be accepted
- Grant recipients from the Spring 2016 Community Grant Cycle are not eligible to apply for the Fall 2016 Community Grant Cycle.
