The UK’s Department of International Development (DFID) is accepting applications for its Specialist Economic Development Framework with an aim to provide technical services that deliver economic development and poverty reduction outcomes for the UK’s development operations that maintain them at the forefront of international development best practice.
DFID wishes to work with Framework participants who are committed to ensuring that the best technical development expertise is quickly and efficiently accessible to DFID staff and colleagues across the UK Government.
Priority Areas
DFID’s economic development priority is to promote growth which creates more productive jobs and secures opportunities and benefits across society, including for women and girls and young people. Key priorities are:-
- Step up in particular sectors such as energy, infrastructure, cities and commercial agriculture, manufacturing and services, trade and exports.
- Focus on catalysing private investment by using innovative financing approaches such as Development Capital.
- Build and adapt our partnerships – notably with partner governments, other parts of the UK government, multilaterals and the private sector.
- Apply politically smart approaches and deliver adaptable and flexible interventions to ensure good practice and best fit to local contexts and priorities
