Deadline: 1 March 2019
Art&Education has announced call for proposals for Forecast’s fourth edition offering artists and creative thinkers from anywhere in the world the chance to work with accomplished mentors toward bringing their projects to fruition.
The Forecast Forum is meant to discuss and further develop the submitted concepts, and to test the potentials of the individual practices and possible mentor–mentee collaborations. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with a group of fascinating practitioners, both mentors and fellow participants, and to present and discuss their concept in a semi-public context.
Each mentor will work on the proposals by his or her three invited participants, aiming to find meaningful ways to develop them further. The entire Radialsystem building will be available for workshops, discussions, installations, performances, or other kinds of presentations.
The candidates will present their ideas at the Forecast Forum in Berlin, taking place July 1–7, 2019. At the conclusion of the Forum, six mentees will be chosen, one in each field, to develop their ideas further with their mentors.
For this edition, Forecast has selected six mentors, all accomplished in their respective fields: visual artist Candice Breitz (South Africa), artist and internet activist Paolo Cirio (Italy), musician Okkyung Lee (South Korea), cartoonist Anders Nilsen (US), radio reporter Joe Richman (US), and conceptual designer Jerszy Seymour (UK/Canada).
Each mentor decides personally whom he or she wants to invite to the Forecast Forum, and, after meeting the three participants that week, whose project will be brought to fruition and showcased at the Forecast Festival. While developing application, participants must consider what might be a connection between their practice and that of the intended mentor.
The final projects will be presented to the public at the Forecast Festival, taking place March 30–April 5, 2020. This edition will be Forecast’s first at the new partner institution in Berlin, Radialsystem.
