Deadline: 04-Sep-2025
The Creative New Zealand is now inviting applications for its Early Career Fund for artists and practitioners who are at the beginning of their careers.
The fund is designed to help these individuals develop new work, acquire new skills, and share their creations with their communities. To be eligible, applicants must be early-career artists and practitioners who are New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents. They can apply as individuals or as a group of collaborators. Established artists, groups, or arts organizations are not eligible to apply. Applicants can request up to $10,000 to create or present work, gain skills, or pay a mentor.
The application process is done through the CNZ Portal, and successful applicants are later asked to provide a budget. Applications are assessed based on whether the proposed activities help the artist learn, create, share, grow their practice, and develop new ideas. The applications are assessed by Creative New Zealand staff or by panels of peer assessors, depending on the funding pool.
You can add extra documents and information to your application to help show you are eligible for funding, support the answers given in your application, and help their assessors understand your practice and the activities you want funded. Only include information that is recent and relevant. You can add information by attaching files or including weblinks. Attached files must be under 10MB each and in the following formats: .pdf, .doc or .docx (Word), .xls or .xlsx (Excel), .png, .jpg, .jpeg (images), .txt, and .mp3 or .m4a (audio). Creative New Zealand is unable to accept documents through Google Docs, Google Drive, Drop-box or WeTransfer. They can accept audio, video, and other file formats via a web-link. Your weblinks must be to URLs where the content can be viewed or played online without needing further navigation, logins or downloading.
