Deadline: 12-Sep-2025
The Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is seeking applications to support people-centred, relatively small projects that have a direct and immediate impact on the well-being of disadvantaged communities at the grass-roots level.
The eligible applicants are non-profit organizations (NPOs) such as non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, educational institutes, medical institutes and local governments. The applicant organisation must have at least two years’ experience in the sector of the proposed project and must have established sound, sustainable and stable foundations in terms of finance, personnel, and project management. GGP applications will be considered if they directly benefit grassroots level in wider range, have substantial outcome by one-shot small-scale grant, and could generate sustainable impact in the future. The scope of assistance is to assist self-help efforts of NPOs in social and economic development in rural/urban settings, helping socially or economically weak and disadvantaged people, and empowering local communities for sustainable development. It also aims to meet various needs whose areas include but are not limited to education, health/sanitation, water/energy, agriculture/indigenous industry, and environment. Through these projects, GGP aims to contribute to give assistance to those who desire to improve their current situations, to emerge from poverty and to stand upon their own two legs with their self-effort.
Under the scheme, the maximum grant amount per project is 10,000,000 Japanese Yen, which is approximately 800,000 BWP. This allocation is intended to support small-scale initiatives that can create meaningful results and foster sustainability within communities.
By strengthening the self-help efforts of organizations, the program emphasizes community empowerment and the creation of opportunities for socially and economically disadvantaged groups. With its focus on education, health, environment, and other critical sectors, the GGP continues to play a vital role in addressing local challenges while promoting long-term human security at the grass-roots level.
