Deadline: 01-Sep-2025
The Komplot is pleased to announce its Plotting the Archive Research Residency Program for an external curator, researcher, or artist, allowing them to dive into the nearly 25-year history of the organization and its archive.
The opportunity is looking for a practice linked to or interest in archives and/or bottom-up art organizations. What you can expect is an open research residency diving into the history of the organization and its significance within the artistic scene of Brussels. The residency and its outcomes can be shaped according to your practice and your interests in conversation with the team at Komplot. There will be a public moment at Komplot for sharing the results of the research, a written outcome of the research, and a contribution of the research for the 25th anniversary of Komplot in 2027.
The residency runs from October to December 2025. The number of days you would like to be present at Komplot during the residency months is flexible and can be discussed, with around one day a week as a guideline. Komplot will inform applicants in mid-September if they have been selected for the residency.
Komplot is offering a resident fee of €1500, including VAT. There is also a production budget of €500, including VAT, for events or other necessary production costs. The selected resident will be able to integrate into the core collective of Komplot for three months. They will have access to the entire Komplot archive, both physical and digital, which spans back to 2002. At least three organized feedback sessions with the curatorial team and external advisor(s) will be provided. Communication about the residency and research results will be shared on their usual communication channels.
To apply, please send a CV and/or Portfolio and a residency proposal by September 1st, midnight, with the subject line “Archival Research Residency”. The residency proposal should be around one A4 page, in English or French, and should explain your interest, how it fits within your practice, and what you would like to explore. The deadline for application is 1 September 2025.
