The project ALGARVE-FEDER-00853600-SYREN-17135—”New perspectives on the involvement of young people in coastal risk”—focuses on the following areas and requirements: Scientific Areas include Educational Sciences, Geography, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Communication Sciences, or related fields.
The scholarship will have an initial duration of 6 months, starting in November 2025, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 16 months. The monthly maintenance allowance is €1,040.98, with potential increases for voluntary social security contributions, and personal accident insurance will be provided for the duration of the scholarship. Payments will be made monthly via bank transfer.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of these scientific areas and be fluent in Portuguese (required) with English proficiency preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in research projects within educational sciences, knowledge of coastal dynamics, proficiency in social science data collection methods, and experience in science communication.
Candidates will be assessed based solely on merit according to the following criteria: curricular and academic merit of the candidate, demonstration of experience or motivation to work in the area of coastal dynamics, with an emphasis on coastal risk, or in the area of educational sciences and demonstration of work experience in the acquisition and analysis of quantitative and/or qualitative data in social sciences.
The scholarship holder’s activity will be evaluated at the end of each contract period by the supervisor, considering the report of activities carried out, compliance with project schedules and deadlines, and the resulting technical or scientific production. Evaluations will be expressed qualitatively as negative, insufficient, sufficient, positive, or very positive.
Applications must include official identification, copies of academic qualifications, proof of registration or recognition of foreign academic degrees if applicable, curriculum vitae, a motivation letter detailing skills and experience in relation to the evaluation criteria, and any other relevant documents. Additional documents will be required at the scholarship contract stage, including proof of residence, identification, declaration from supervisors, and commitment to an exclusive dedication regime.
