WaterNet, The South African Development Community (SADC) subsidiary institution for capacity building in Water Resources Management is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Regional Masters Programme in Integrated Water Resources Management for the 2017/18 intake.
The WaterNet Masters programme is scheduled to start in February 2017.
SADC was established in 1992 and is committed to Regional Integration and poverty eradication within Southern Africa through economic development and ensuring peace and security. The objectives of SADC are to achieve development, peace and security, and economic growth, to alleviate poverty, enhance the standard and quality of life of the peoples of Southern Africa, and support the socially disadvantaged through regional integration, built on democratic principles and equitable and sustainable development.
Eligibility Criteria
- Suitable applicants from the Southern African region as well as from Kenya and Uganda are encouraged to apply.
- There will be limited scholarships available; as a result candidates who can secure financial assistance from other sources and those who can partially sponsor themselves will be given first preference
- Participants are required to have at least a good first degree at Bachelor level (BA/BSc).
- The candidate should be able to show an orientation of his/her field of study to water related issues.
- Preference will be given to those with two or more years of relevant experience.
- The language of instruction is English.
- Below are the preferred entry requirements for the various Options.
- Hydrology Bachelor’s degree with a Hydrology or Environmental Science background or equivalent
- Water Resources Management Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Science or equivalent
- Water and Land Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Geography, Physical Planning or equivalent
- GIS and Earth Observation Bachelor’s degree with a Hydrology or Engineering background or equivalent
- Water and Environment Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Earth or Environmental Science or equivalent
- Water Supply and Sanitation Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Science or equivalent
- Water and Society Bachelor’s degree in Social or Earth Science or equivalent
