The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) is seeking applications for its International Training Programme, “MENA Quality Infrastructure for Food Safety”. The Programme runs from 5 November to 1 December 2017 in Sweden.
Objectives
- To provide awareness, information and training to the relevant governmental officials and economic operators regarding the new principles and requirements related to food safety, international trade in food and agricultural products embedded in the WTO agreements and best practices.
- The programme aims at supporting the participants and their institutions, companies and countries in addressing identified issues and problems at home base through project works to be done by the participants supported by programme consultants.
- Finally the programme will provide for updating and support regarding issues addressed in the projects works done by the participants through a follow-up seminar that will be conducted in one of the participating countries

Eligibility Criteria
- Only candidates nominated by the appropriate organizations and in accordance with national rules will be considered.
- The programme is intended first and foremost for those involved in the decision-making process regarding food safety and trade in food in the country, in accordance with international agreements and requirements and their support functions.
- Participants will typically come from ministries of health and agriculture and their institutions, and ministries dealing with requirements on goods on the national markets, international trade, industry and commerce, conformity assessment bodies (standardisation bodies, certification bodies, testing laboratories, inspection bodies, metrology institutions or laboratories) and from accreditation bodies or national focal points for accreditation.
