Deadline: 31-Oct-2025
The Auckland Council is requesting applications for its Howick Quick Response Grant Program to encourage meaningful projects that enhance local life and promote wellbeing across the community.
A new funding opportunity is available for individuals and organisations in the Howick area who are looking to make a positive impact in their community. The Howick Local Board is offering community grants between $500 and $4,000 to support a variety of local initiatives.
Eligible projects can fall under a range of categories including arts, community development, environmental improvement, events, heritage preservation, and sports or recreation. Whether it’s a cultural celebration, environmental restoration, or a local sporting event, the grant is designed to support activities that bring people together and contribute to the vibrancy of the Howick area.
Applicants are encouraged to focus on delivering strong outcomes that align with the local board’s goals—supporting people, caring for the environment, strengthening the community, improving public spaces, and boosting the local economy. The board will give priority to events or activities that take place within the local board area and show a clear benefit to the community. Projects that demonstrate financial planning, including other funding sources or volunteer contributions, are also viewed more favourably. In light of recent challenges, initiatives supporting recovery from significant weather events are also a high priority.
While the board remains open to a wide range of applications, some are considered lower priority. These include fundraising events, operational costs such as ongoing wages, catering, travel expenses, and the purchase or maintenance of vehicles. Applications requesting over $10,000 or multiple applications from the same group within one financial year are also less likely to be prioritised.
This grant opportunity presents a chance for local groups, individuals, and organisations to make a meaningful difference in Howick. By aligning with the board’s priorities and focusing on broad community benefit, applicants can contribute to building a resilient, connected, and thriving local area.
