Deadline: 24-Aug-20
Trefoil is currently accepting applications for the Personal Development Grants to young people under the age of 25 years with additional needs which may be psycho/social or of a physical nature which impacts upon their development.
The purpose of the grant should be to support personal development (personal, social and/or emotional) and/or independence for eligible individuals/groups. It is not intended to replace statutory funding or to relieve statutory bodies of their funding and support obligations, but match funding with other sources such as Local Authorities or statutory bodies and charities may be considered. The aim is to allow the applicant to participate in a project which without the grant would not have been available to them.
Grants may be provided to individuals or organisations. The project or event should provide evaluation criteria which can be agreed in advance of the award among Trefoil, the individual and the supervising body. The making and level of the award will be entirely at the discretion of Trefoil. Where a grant is given Trefoil would like to receive a brief report on the benefits gained, which might be used, if the recipient agrees, on the Trefoil website.
Eligibility Criteria
Young people under the age of 25 years with particular needs which may be psycho/social or of a physical nature or both which may adversely affect their development and/or independence.
Application Process
- Applications should be submitted no later than 12 weeks before any funds are required, as this allows time for references to be accessed and any questions to be answered. As applications which do not meet the minimum timescale cannot be considered, they should be made as early as possible.
- Trefoil requires two referees to support an application. They should be involved with the applicant(s) on an appropriate professional basis (nurse, doctor, social worker). The referees should be able to validate the reasons for the application and the potential benefits to the applicant. Both references must be included with the application.
- Depending on the scale of the request (eg an organisation requesting funding on behalf of a number of applicants or a complex application) the applicants may be required to provide detailed project proposals for consideration.
