The U.S. Embassy is seeking applications for its program entitled “SUSI for Students Leaders on Social Entrepreneurship” to provide students with a better understanding of their leadership skills.
The four-week academic residency will provide participants with an overview of how entrepreneurial skills can address social issues. The Institute should review the development, history, challenges, and successes of social enterprises and community leaders, in the United States and globally. The Institute should give participants an opportunity to employ entrepreneurial skills to address social issues and to provide unique opportunities to meet with diverse community leaders and social entrepreneurs.
Eligibility Criteria
The participants are expected to be highly motivated by third colleges, colleges, universities, and other institutions of higher education, who demonstrates leadership through academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities. Their fields of study will be varied and may include the sciences, social sciences, humanities, education, business, and other professional fields
Candidates nominated for this program must:
- be proficient in spanish
- be interested in the topic of Social Entrepreneurship;
- be between 18 and 25 years of age;
- have at least one of their undergraduate studies, and therefore be committed to return to their home countries following completion of the program;
- leadership and ability in their university and community activities;
- indicate a serious interest in learning about the United States;
- have a sustained high level of academic achievement, awards, and teaching recommendations;
- a commitment to community and extracurricular university activities;
- have little or no priority in the United States or elsewhere outside of their home country;
- be mature, responsible, independent, confident, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful, and inquisitive;
- be willing and able to fully participate in an intensive academic program, community service, and educational travel; and,
- be comfortable with campus life, prepared to share living accommodations, and to be able to make adjustments to your home country.
