The U.S. Embassy, Kingston Public Affairs Section has announced an open competition for organizations to submit applications for its Women History Month Grants Pitch Competition.
Applicants are to design and implement a program which seeks to empower the voices of and address issues that affect girls and women in the following priority program areas of:
- Education
- Health
- Security
- Civic & Political engagement
- Business
- Agriculture
Program Objectives
The project implementers will identify project opportunities in education, health, security, civil and political engagement, business or Agriculture and facilitate through their proposed activities the following:
The objectives should include, but are not limited to:
- Build alliances and networks among girls/women and boys/men to support the inclusion of women in the program area of choice.
- Provide training to strengthen communication and leadership skills of participants
- Identify opportunities to raise awareness of the importance of gender balance in the program area of choice.
- Convene fora on strengthening girls and women voices as influencers in the particular areas
Funding Information
- Total estimated funding: U.S. $100,000.00
- Award Floor: U.S. $20,000.00 per awardee
- Award Ceiling: U.S. $20,000.00 per awardee
- All projects must begin before or by September 30, 2019. This does not mean that the activity for funding is completed before September 30, 2019, but that preparation for the activity must begin before that date.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Public Affairs Section encourages applications from:
- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations with project management experience
- U.S. Exchange alumni
- Non-profit or educational institutions.
- For-profit or commercial entities are not eligible to apply.
