The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Montenegro is seeking proposals from eligible organisations for a training program for rangers in protected areas, under the project entitled “Improved management of protected areas and the Western Balkans countries”.
The program is financed by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and implemented by UNDP Montenegro. One of the project outputs is designed to improve rangers’ services in selected pilot sites by training staff members in line training program, “Park Ranger in a protected area.”
The program was standardized at the Montenegro national level by the Centre for Vocational Education at the end of 2013 and training program has become active since the beginning of 2014, by the adoption from the Council of Education.
Focus Areas
- Selection of the personnel from the pilot sites that will undertake the trainings (pilot sites: Sutjeska National Park, Piva Parko of nature, Karaburuni Peninsula and Sazani Island. Seection will be done in cooperation with UNDP office);
- Implementation of the training program for at least 15 rangers;
- Documenting of lessons learned, and collating tools developed, for further replication.
Specific Tasks
- Develop the proper attitude towards work;
- Participants are capable t undertake professional communication with colleagues, visitors and clients;
- Develop the proper attitude to conservation of equipment and inventory;
- Affirmation of the rangers profession in protected areas;
- Raising awareness of the importance of maintaining optimal working conditions and working environment;
- Confidence and security in the use of devices and equipment;
- Develop a responsible attitude towards their own health and safety and the compulsory use of protective equipment at work;
- Develop a responsible attitude towards safety of others;
- Raising awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting the environment;

Non-governmental organizations or other partners interested in delivering training program can apply.
