United Nations Unite has launched the “Reboot the Ocean” Challenge to bring youth together to develop new solutions that address current sustainability challenges and ensure a healthy and productive ocean.
The winning solutions will be showcased on the Unite Ideas page, presented at SAP Purpose Network Live and will have the opportunity to take part in the upcoming Ocean Conference with the support from Reboot the Ocean partners.
Challenges
During the Global Hackathon you can tackle one of the 5 critical challenges identified by the UN to help change the course of the future.
- End Waste Entering the Ocean
- Ocean Energy
- Mapping the Oceans
- Set Sail for Zero
- Fully Traceable Seafood
Eligibility Criteria
- Solutions can be received from individuals and teams of any size. Each individual must be within the age of 18 to 38 years old.
- Participation submissions will be accepted globally, but selection prioritization will be given to teams around the world that include gender diversity.
- Everyone is invited, from individuals, companies, associations, research and academic institutions.
Criteria
They are looking for peoples of all backgrounds, to bring together the best skills. In particular they are looking for:
- Activists & Adovates
- Creatives & Entrepreneurs
- Students & Young Professionals
- Scientists, Enginners and Technologists
Your submission to this challenge includes:
- A short description of your idea, solutions or tool
- A video of yourself explaining the solution
- An online working solution or prototype of your tool (preferred), or a video of it in action.
- Source code of the solution (if applicable)
