Nominations are open for the Woman of the Year Award 2017 in order to recognise and celebrate women who have migrated or fled persecution themselves and find time to provides essential support and inspiring leadership on a grassroot level to others starting a new life in the UK.
This Award is specifically designed to recognise and celebrate the work of migrant and refugee women.
Eligibility Criteria
Any woman who self-defines as a migrant or refugee can nominate herself or be nominated by someone who knows her work well. However, she must:
- Consent to be nominated
- Have been actively involved in community work in the UK during the last 12 months. Community can mean many things – for example, it may be defined geographically, on the grounds of country of origin, or it may be a community of interest.
- Work to support migrants and/or refugees to settle in the UK, although this work does not need to have been with or for women, or on gender issues.
