The Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal is inviting applications for the Back to School (BTS), a national program that helps remote and rural children and young people access quality educational experiences.

Objectives
- The objectives of the Back to School program are to:
- Improve access to education through enabling the purchase of items required to attend and engage in school;
- Help meet basic needs that assist children to reach their full potential, and fit in with their peers; and
- Build local connections and community resilience through local distribution networks and Community Foundations.
Purpose
- The FRRR Back to School (BTS) program is a positive and practical program that makes a real difference to the lives of students and families in need at the start of the school year. FRRR is conducting the General stream of the program to assist remote, rural and regional students in need to purchase items required for school, such as uniforms, shoes and school supplies.
- Applications are sought from eligible not-for-profit organisations who act as BTS partners and will distribute $ 50 eGift vouchers from Target, Kmart or nominated local businesses such as a uniform, stationery or shoe suppliers, to families in need of support.
What can the vouchers be used for?
- Back to School provides $50 digital gift vouchers to students in need redeemable at Target, Kmart or local retailers. The eGift vouchers are to be used to replace or renew items required for school:
- School uniform items;
- School shoes / shoes for school sports / Physical Education;
- Stationery / school supplies;
- Items required to fully participate in school activities.
- The eGift vouchers must be treated as cash and cannot be replaced if lost.
Voucher Funding Request
- Back to School eGift vouchers are valued at $50 and can be for Target, Kmart or nominated local businesses such as a uniform or stationery supplier, School Uniform shop or a mixture that best suits your community needs. They note that:
- Target eGift vouchers can be redeemed instore or onling
- Kmart eGift vouchers can only be redeemed instore;
- Local Business voucherscan only be redeemed instore. The application form will have a section for each type of voucher. Please follow the instructions in that section to nominate how many of each type of voucher are requested. Make sure you use the inbuilt calculator function in the form to update the total cost of the vouchers.
Eligibility Criteria
- They welcome applications from eligible non-for-profit organisations based in rural, remote or regional areas across Australia.
- Applicant organisations must be a not-for-profit organisation with either an Incorporation Certificate and/or an ABN. If you are unsure if your organisation is a registered not-for-profit (for example, if you are a Co-operative, Other Unincorporated Entity, Public Company or Trust), please contact FRRR. Not-for-profit organisations with or without DGR-1 endorsement are eligible.
- Please note: FRRR is unable to distribute vouchers directly to families.
Ineligible
- Please note, you will be considered ineligible if the:
- Application is submitted by individuals, sole traders, private or commercial businesses (as per the submitted ABN);
- Application is submitted by an organisation that is not a legal entity, without the written consent of the governing / partnering body who holds the ABN / Incorporation number;
- Application is submitted without required financial documentation;
- Final report/s from any FRRR grants awarded in the previous seven years have not been acquitted (delivery organisations should check with legal organisation to see if there are any outstanding final reports);
- Application is to supplement an existing return to school voucher / welfare program which is already occurring;
- Application is incomplete. NOTE: Due to the volume of applications received, applications are assessed based on the documentation received at the time of application. FRRR is unlikely to follow up missing documentation after applications have been submitted.
