Applications are now open for the Hull Community Fund, which aims to support and strengthen Hull’s voluntary and community groups. The fund is focused on enhancing the positive impact these groups have on life in the city.
This initiative is a partnership between Hull City Council, Hull CVS, HEY Smile Foundation, Forum CIO, and Two Ridings Community Foundation. Together, they are working to ensure local groups can continue addressing community needs and building a stronger, more inclusive Hull.
The fund prioritizes projects in several key areas. In health and wellbeing, it supports older and vulnerable people to live healthy and dignified lives and helps children and young people access healthy lifestyles and mental wellbeing. It also targets support for groups facing barriers in accessing health and care services.
In education and training, the fund encourages the development of employability skills and creates volunteering opportunities. It also promotes access to culture and heritage, including community arts initiatives that engage excluded communities.
Environmental projects are also a priority, particularly those that support biodiversity and environmental improvements across Hull.
For 2025, the total funding available is £50,000. This will be distributed through three Step Change grants of up to £10,000 each and between ten and twenty Activity Grants of up to £2,000 each. Applicants can choose which grant best suits their project needs.
Eligible applicants are small organisations with a turnover of under £200,000 that operate with charitable aims. Organisations must be based in Hull or actively serve people in the Hull area to apply. A small grant from the fund is intended to create a significant and lasting difference in the local community.
