Deadline: 17-Oct-2025
The Irish Youth Foundation has announced the reopening of its Flagship Fund for 2025, offering support to projects and programmes dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people living in poverty across Ireland.
The fund is aimed at organisations working with those who are marginalised and facing disadvantage, with a strong focus on creating opportunities for positive change and long-term impact.
The fund prioritises three key areas of development. Educational attainment is a central theme, with programmes encouraged that help children transition smoothly through school and complete their education. Health and wellbeing are also emphasised, particularly initiatives that support young people in navigating the important stages from childhood to adulthood in a happy and healthy way. A third priority is skills and employability, with funding directed towards projects that prepare young people for economic independence and successful futures. The fund is open to organisations working with children and young people aged 5 to 25 years within the Republic of Ireland.
Two main categories of support are available. The Promising Programmes Fund offers grants of between €10,000 and €30,000 for innovative projects that may not yet be fully proven but show clear potential and evidence of impact. This stream is particularly interested in pioneering ideas that use creativity, innovation, and collaboration to help young people overcome challenges. The Grassroots Fund, on the other hand, provides smaller grants of €1,500 to €10,000 for community-based projects. These awards are designed to assist with daily operational costs, programme expenses, or activities that directly support children and young people.
To be eligible, applicants must be registered not-for-profit or charitable organisations that have been active in Ireland for at least 12 months. They must also hold a bank account in the organisation’s name and have a child protection policy in place. By supporting both ambitious new initiatives and vital grassroots efforts, the Flagship Fund seeks to build a stronger foundation for young people to thrive.
