Deadline: 01-Aug-2025
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is inviting applications for financial grants aimed at supporting collective shelters and service providers that assist refugees living in these shelters across Hungary. These grants are designed to provide additional funding that strengthens the delivery of essential services to those displaced by the war in Ukraine.
This initiative is part of IOM’s Ukraine Strategic Response Plan for 2024–2026, which focuses on humanitarian aid, essential services, and protection. It also emphasizes the importance of localization, recognizing the valuable role of local actors in creating sustainable, community-based responses in Hungary.
IOM Hungary seeks to partner with shelters and organizations actively working in these spaces to improve their ability to address urgent and long-term needs, particularly for vulnerable groups. The support will equip them with the resources necessary to expand or enhance their services.
Eligible initiatives may include social work, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and developmental programs for children. The funding will enable local solutions that are tailored to community needs, with a strong focus on supporting those most at risk.
The maximum budget for each project proposal is 2 million Hungarian Forints (HUF). The grants are exclusively intended to benefit refugees from Ukraine and dual Hungarian-Ukrainian citizens displaced by the conflict. Third-Country Nationals (TCNs) from Ukraine or elsewhere are not eligible as beneficiaries under this program.
Applicants must be registered in Hungary and can include government agencies, NGOs, non-profits, civil society organizations, foundations, or companies classified as micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Organizations already receiving IOM Hungary grant funding are not eligible to apply again.
Additional requirements include alignment with human rights and humanitarian principles, non-discrimination, and a clear record of integrity. Applicants must have been legally established at least six months before the call was published and must submit a signed Declaration of Conformity. Entities affiliated with IOM staff or listed on UN sanctions or ineligibility lists will not be considered.
