Deadline: 15-Sep-2025
The Academy for the Mathematical Sciences is inviting applications for its inaugural cohort of Fellows. This opportunity is open to outstanding individuals across all areas of the mathematical sciences, including educators, researchers, scholars, and those applying mathematics in business, industry, or government.
The Academy seeks Fellows who collectively reflect the depth and diversity of mathematical excellence in the UK. Candidates will have pursued varied career paths and be at different career stages, but all will have made exceptional contributions to or through the mathematical sciences and show potential for further impact.
Selected Fellows will serve as ambassadors for the Academy and act as key connectors between the mathematical sciences community and broader sectors including industry, government, and education. The Fellowship aims to be a collective showcase of excellence and collaboration across disciplines. The first small cohort will be appointed in 2025, with new cohorts added annually.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate significant contributions with real-world impact. This might include advancing research, influencing public policy, changing education practices, developing computational tools, improving industry standards, or enhancing public understanding of mathematics.
The Academy welcomes applications from diverse candidates across all regions of the UK, encouraging participation from individuals of different genders, ethnicities, and mathematical specializations.
Applications will be assessed through a multi-stage process, beginning with specialized Selection Panels in categories such as Education, Academia, Business/Industry/Government, and Open (for interdisciplinary work). Final selections will be made by the Fellowship Committee and approved by the Academy’s Trustees.
Applicants must either submit a CV of no more than two pages or provide a link to their LinkedIn profile in the application form.
