Deadline: 13-Aug-2025
The World Food Programme (WFP) is inviting applications for projects focused on general food assistance, nutrition, digital and financial inclusion, resilience, and self-reliance in Nakivale and Oruchinga Refugee Settlements and their host districts. The initiative targets improved outcomes for both refugees and host communities through multi-sectoral and coordinated interventions.
Key focus areas include food security through in-kind or cash-based assistance, and livelihoods support such as community mobilization, microfinance, and self-reliance programs. Nutrition interventions will prioritize infant and young child feeding, and the prevention and treatment of malnutrition. Protection-related services are also part of the program scope.
The goal is to ensure food-insecure refugees and asylum seekers receive the support they need to meet their food and nutrition requirements. This includes providing nutrient-rich foods and social behavior change communication (SBCC) to nutritionally vulnerable children under five and pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls in both refugee and host populations.
Government institutions and partners are expected to improve their capacity to deliver targeted assistance efficiently, helping ensure resources reach the most at-risk households. The initiative also aims to empower communities through capacity building, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and diversifying income sources.
Efforts will include social behavior change, increased agricultural production, and digitization of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), linking them to formal financial institutions. These actions support long-term self-reliance and resilience in refugee and host communities.
Applicants will be evaluated based on several criteria, including accountability to communities, local presence, project clarity, access and security conditions, cost-effectiveness, experience with UN agencies, innovative methods, and realistic planning and timelines.
